Cory Townes
Born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia and now residing in Brooklyn, NY, Cory Townes is establishing himself as one of the premiere DJs in his industry. Using his unique perspective, influences and eccentric ear for music both new and old, Cory has become an in-demand talent in the music event space, bringing a sense of excitement and versatility to each venue he plays.
Growing up in a musically-driven household as the son of legendary DJ pioneer DJ Jazzy Jeff, the art of the DJ was ingrained in Cory’s spirit from birth. Sounds of not only Hip-Hop and R&B but Soul, Funk, various sub-genres of House/Dance and Alternative music permeated the rooms of his childhood home, curating his musical palette in a fashion that would only evolve as the years passed.
Cory entered the music space as a freelance music writer before discovering his innate talent as a DJ, and hasn’t turned back since. With his diverse musical skill set, Cory has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the biggest DJs and Artists from around the world, such as Ari Lennox, Victoria Monet, Mya, Just Blaze, Arin Ray, David Banner, Sango, and Soulection amongst others.
On the brand side, Cory has also worked with a plethora of clients throughout the world over the past 5 years including: Google, Twitter, Nike, Youtube, Netflix, Soho House, New Balance, Andreessen Horowitz, The Brooklyn Nets, The New York City Marathon, SXSW, Atlantic Records and The UFC. He has also been featured in various campaigns with brands such as Nike, Spotify, Target, Tres Generaciones Tequila, Amazon, Footaction, Under Armor, Crown Royal, Soundcloud, Roc Nation, Topicals, G-Star Jeans and more.
